Breaking ground in Uganda, a Milestone for accessible rehabilitation

We are excited to share that ground has officially been broken in Uganda for the construction of a brand-new rehabilitation centre. This transformative project is being realized by SwissABILITY, in partnership with our generous donors and the Nkolo Orthopedics Rehabilitation Center.

A Vision Becoming Reality

Over the next three years, this site will be developed into a fully equipped rehabilitation centre designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities and amputations. The facility will feature:

• Modern rehabilitation machines to provide high-quality care.
• A sustainable water source and solar energy supply to ensure independence and reliability.
• Accommodation facilities for short-term patients and long-term staff.
• A mobile clinic based at the site, extending outreach and support to surrounding communities.

Focus for 2025

The immediate priority this year is the construction of the main rehabilitation centre. Once completed, it will provide the district with a much-needed hub for specialized services, easing the burden on patients and families who currently face limited access to care.

Meeting a Growing Need

At present, the Nkolo Orthopedics Rehabilitation Center operates from a small rented space that is insufficient for both staff and patients. This new development will be a game-changer, offering dignity, accessibility, and hope to countless individuals.
